Figs

Birdwood Nursery Fig cultivars are early bearing, high yielding and suited to all climates.  These include Black Genoa, Brown Turkey and Red Conadria.

These self-fertile, deciduous trees bear delicious fruit which need to harvested quickly as the birds also relish this fruit.  Although commonly referred to as a fruit, the fig fruit is actually the flower of the tree (the flower is not visible as it blooms inside the fruit).

Nutritionally, Figs are one of the highest plant sources of both calcium and fibre.
